About the Author...

First and foremost, my name is Brittany Barajas and I am an angeleno who loves to travel and learn along the way. My current interests include, urban management/development, smart cities, placemaking, real estate and the client retail experience.

Current Status
I currently reside in Madrid, Spain where I am completing a work placement at ETFmatic as part of my undergraduate degree scheme for ICADE and Lancaster University. During my free time, I am either working on my thesis about Smart Cities, traveling, working for GM Surveying, or learning all I can ,through books and podcasts, about my current interests as mentioned above.

Hobbies
- Collecting Vinyls (my best find: The Beatles / 1967-1970 for £3)
- Volleyball (middle school, high school and university level) 
- Traveling (Tunisia, Portugal, Israel, UK, Italy, Vatican City, Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Canada, The Netherlands, but many more places yet to see)

My Responsibilities

Working alongside the co-founder/ceo in the department of Business Development focusing on the transition from providing services on the B2C level to providing services on a B2B level.

Accomplishments

Published various articles/newsletters for their website and email distribution

Gained proficiency in Wordpress, Elementor, Hubspot, Webflow, and Zendesk

Collaborated on a communications campaign to assist a B2B client's integration into ETFmatic's system

My Responsibilities

My biggest responsibility during my internship was to be the main point of contact between the shop-owners within the district and the BID. My other responsibilities include providing support for partner events and conducting research in various areas to assist in the day-to-day operations.

Accomplishments

Coordinated the participation of local shops in various activities and main events within the district to increase visitors and provide a cohesive district experience to both locals and visitors alike.

My Responsibilities

During my internship I worked alongside the CEO and urban renewal consultant and provided assistance when needed and helped with various projects they had in the works. I also assisted in various monthly committee meetings.

Accomplishments

Created and presented to the Greenscape Committee an improvement report with recommendations on possible ways to increase foot traffic in an alley way.

Designed a visual case for the extraction of a diseased and dying species of tree within the district.

Provided support for an event hosted by the BID to attract new visitors to the district.

My Responsibilities

Participated in various prospective student events on campus where I spoke in detail about my degree and answered question from interested students. During these events I was also part of the social media team where we shared photos, videos, tweets about the event to provide an authentic digital experience to prospective student who were unable to attend in person. Away from campus, I've had one-to-one video calls to prospective students who were interested in pursuing the same degree.

Improved the school's social media activity during events by providing more diverse content (Instagram Stories, Instagram Posts, Instagram Live, Facebook, Twitter, etc)

My Responsibilities

I worked alongside Solmar's Marketing and Sales Department. I helped manage and develop their  online presence (instagram, facebook, and their website) by updating these platforms with upcoming events and creating more cohesion between the platforms. I also had responsibilities in customer service where I answered questions (both in English and Spanish) to current and future guests.
